typhoons

From June to December typhoons often strike the archipelago. Most of these storms come from the southeast, their frequency generally increasing from south to north; in some years the number of typhoons reaches 25 or more. Typhoons are heaviest in Samar, Leyte, eastern Quezon province, and the Bataan Islands, and when accompanied by floods or high winds they may cause great loss of life and property. Mindoro is generally free from typhoons.

Ah, the weather.... We do get an awful lot of inquiries about what is the weather, visibility or the diving conditions going to be like at any time in the near (or far) future. The truth is, nobody can predict the weather anymore these days. Murphy's Law is the best answer to this most popular question. However, this is the weather we usually have; anything else is up to Mother Nature......

Puerto Galera's weather is pleasant nearly year-round. December-April is the driest and coolest time, with day temperatures in the 70°s-80°s F (23°-32°C) . During the hottest time of year (May-June), daytime temperatures can reach the 90°s F (32°-35° C). Blue skies and a strong tropical sun are constant features of Puerto Galera's weather, but visitors will rarely feel stifled; Puerto Galera weather is tempered by mild winds blowing off the water. The rainy season is June-July, but don't expect a constant downpour, instead just short, sporadic, refreshing bursts.

Diving in Puerto Galera is possible year round. The climate is tropical, with average daytime temperatures of 26 - 33 degrees Celsius down to 22 - 30 degrees Celsius at night; May and June are the hottest months. Theoretically the wet season is in their summer from June to September, however, the region has been extremely dry for the past three years.
The water is tropical and warm - Dec. - Feb. 22 to 24°C, March - Nov. 25 to 28°C.
